Viking Company is a small R&D group focusing on fields of engineering that push the limits of human expansion throughout the cosmos. It was originally founded in the Utgardr System, on the Ice-moon of it's second planet. After only a few years passed the system's core star shifted into an unstable phase, making it too dangerous and costly to survive. It was at this point that Viking Company turned all of its assets into long distance transports and evacuated the system to wander aimlessly across the stars. Upon discovering the ARK ship program Konungr Holgrimr saw an opportunity to apply Viking company's talent to the colonization of this new region of space and turned his sights on these new and distant horizons.

(to clarify, as we are neutral, Viking company's approach to Co-operative alliances is on the grounds of joint R&D/Manufacturing projects.)
The small scale model of the VCS Bregdhafni has been completed. As a key; the green painted regions mark port-hole or window locations, the red mark turrets that were too small to have a mock up made, the blue marks primary thruster locations (lift and rotational thrusters not included), black marks port access airlocks and the black and yellow "cans" are the planned deployable cargo containers.
This ship will serve as our mobile HQ until we can fix the bugs in our rapid deployment systems and actually set up a home base. So until further notice all assigned Grimheim residents will be able to find a safe place aboard the Bregdhafni.
Though quarters, offices, and small labs take priority in this ship's internal layout, it's still based in a cargo ship model and can haul a fair ammount of supplies as needed. We will be taking short shipping contracts to help showcase the base design to potential customers, upon completion of the vessel.
Just remember, this is only a model! But just for now.
As you all may know, Viking Company's first attempted planetfall was a bust, a calculation error caused our rapidly deployed base prototype to impact without arresting its momentum. In response we will be recycling the wreckage into a more mobile approach to a headquarters...
Thus I am proud to announce the first VC ship, and flagship of our heavy haulers, the "Knarr" class; The VC-S2a2-NSM, dubbed the VCS-Bregdhafni.
The VCS-Bregdhafni will serve as our primary mobile headquarters for the forseeable future, and has been designed with that key requirement in mind, despite being primarily a hauler. This means that some cargo space has been converted into small scale labs, quarters, and operations systems; however, since the Bregdhafni was designed as a heavy hauler it will still be capable of large scale haullage, just not as much as a designated ship of the same class.
A miniature display model is being assembeled as we speak, though official blueprints and development sketches are classified and subject to change. I will post a follow-up when the model has been finished.
We at viking company are dedicated to the development and improvement of technology that advances the expansion humanity across the cosmos.
To accomplish this goal we have structured ourselves into a disciplined structure under the command of the Konungr. The Konungr serves as the company head, and commands all branches, his primary duty is assigning project sets to each branch and mediation, he also serves as the primary contact between Viking Company and it's allies when setting up Joint projects.
Beneath the Konungr stands the council of Jarls, each of these five Jarls is in charge of a different branch and serves as the expert in the branches' field of engineering as well as the divider of tasks on assigned projects. Jarls are also called upon from time to time to discuss future projects and events, these meetings are refered to as the "Jarlmoots".
While each branch represents a different field of research or role within Viking company, dedicated members of other branches may be called to cross between branches. This occurs when more hands are needed on a project, or a project requires the expertise of multiple branches.
Each Project will be assigned a Lead, a member who is tasked with the operation of aforementioned Project, as well as it's supply requisition and the division of tasks among those assigned under themselves. Within a project sub-Leads may be assigned to perform a similar role on divided sections of a project. The necessity of sub-Leads is determined by the Project Lead. In the circumstance that multiple branch expertise is required sub-Leads will be required for the aspects they specialize in, though they will still report to the Project Lead.
Under the circumstance that a Project or Project Subsection recieves assigned members of equivilant or superior rank to the member given the Lead role on said Project or Subsection; the assigned members take positions immediately below the Lead. The Project Lead holds command in any matter regarding the Project assigned to them, the Sub-Leads hold command of their subsection under the Project Lead.
The five branches under the command of the Jarls are: the Shipyards, responsible for design and construction of ships; Communications, responsible for networks, sensors, and scanning tech; Logistics, responsible for the development of resource harvesting, processing, transportation and rapid base deployment tech; Military, responsible for the technology of war; and Operations, who's responsibility it is to keep the other branches supplied and safe.
Under each Jarl are a number of units, the number is variable and depends on how many people are assigned or otherwise available to the Jarl. These units are lead by Hersir, who's job it is to keep their unit on task. They are challenged to report and solve any issues that impede their unit's task.
Under the command of the Operations branch are two units for the defense of Company assets and members. These units are the Ulfserker and Behrserker, those assigned to these units are given the additional title of Skildsonnar/Skilddottr. The Ulfserker unit serves as an escort and militia defense force, while the Behrserker serve as strike operatives to counter an assault or reclaim what was lost.
Each unit is broken down further under the Hersir into squads. Squads are small teams of a maximum of five people. Each squad is made up of one Huskarl rank member who's duty is to keep his squad in good order and morale, much like his commanding Hersir minus the delegative duties. Those that serve under a Huskarl are the base rank Karl, this rank is awarded after graduating the Viking Company training program.
Prior to their training at VCRD all prospective Viking Company engineers start as Serfs. Serfs are basically interns, and are assigned to squads to get them acquainted with the flow of life within the company.
In addition a position is given to representatives of organizations with whom Viking company has established Co-operative alliances, representatives are unhindered by the rank and file of standard members unless they also serve as members of Viking Company. Representatives serve as the allied company's primary line of communication and negotiation to Viking Company.
Rank is earned, and thus a sign of experience and skill, therefore rank is to be respected. Should abuse of rank and privelage occur it should be reported to the Konungr immediately. Likewise any Harrassment between members or of those outside the organization will not be tolerated and should also be reported to the Konungr immediately.
Should gaps exist in the rank structure no member will be moved to fill said gaps without proper assessment. All responsibilities held by the vacant position are handed up the chain of command until the position is filled.
Any actions of war taken without direct order of the Konungr will result in the extradition of the aggressor to the organization they aggrieved.
Any called assemblance of the Company for Company business is refered to as a Moot. Any assemblance of the Company for non-Company business is refered to as a Thing. A Jarlmoot for example may be followed by a celebratory Thing, or the Konungr may call for the Allthing, a full assemblance of the Company to celebrate a grand event.
Should this charter not cover a future issue the acting Konungr of Viking Company is tasked with updating the charter to reflect any required ammendments.

Viking Company consists of five non-subsidiary branches focusing on various fields of engineering:
VC-Shipyards:Our first branch, dedicated to the design and construction of specialized craft, with a focus on long term use and reliability
VC-Communications:The first thing a new colony needs is a stable line of communication, so this branch is dedicated to developing long range comm systems and scanning equipment
VC-Logistics:This branch is dedicated to the rapid deployment base systems as well as the transit of supplies to and from bases and fleets, as well as the development of efficient resource acquisition and processing systems.
VC-Military:Once a base or colony is established, it may have to defend itself from various external threats. The military branch is responsible for solving these practical problems.
VC-Operations:The trunk, if you will. Operations is responsible for keeping the other branches functioning, as well as deploying our completed tech to advance our own processes. We won't use another's product over our own!
As a neutral entity, Viking Company strives only to support the growth of all of humanity across the cosmos. As such it will hold no political standing or allegiance, and will only contractually serve other organizations on special projects. It's branches are non-subsidiary, existing as non-autonomous groups within the company that have a specific field of research and design, the only exception to this is operations which does no research, but keeps all projects afloat.
Viking Company is Headquartered on it's flagship the VCS-Bregdhafni, a heavy hauler modified to serve as the nomadic HQ until the colony of Grimheim can be properly established.
